Our Story

Spokes began exactly how you would imagine. A few friends, a series of conversations on rides and over beers, and a desire to create a local hangout with a bike shop in the back. What could be better than a combination of coffee, comfort food, bikes and beer?

After opening in 2017, the first shop on Washington was immediately embraced by the neighborhood, surrounding businesses and the local bike community as a go-to spot to for coffee, breakfast and lunch (have we mentioned the breakfast burritos yet?).

Many twists and turns later (Covid, two killer local bike shops opening within a mile of us, opportunities to bring our local fare to other KC neighborhoods, the build out of a catering business) we are still going strong. 

Spokes is 100% local. Our owners and employees live in the neighborhoods where we operate and take pride in fostering a spot in their community serving up top-notch comfort food and coffee.

While the bike shop portion of the business is behind us (remember those other bike shops opening right down the street?), we always have plenty going on. Stop in for a coffee when you are in town or introduce yourself your first day in the neighborhood and become a regular.
